Map of My Kingdom

Colfax – The Center in Colfax (104 S. Main St)

7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Map of My Kingdom was commissioned by Practical Farmers of Iowa and written by Mary Swander, Iowa’s poet laureate. In the play, character Angela Martin, a lawyer and mediator in land transition disputes, shares stories of how farmers and landowners have approached their farmland transfers. Map of My Kingdom will be performed by Maria Vorhis, an actor from Central Iowa who graduated from Iowa State University.  

Thursday evening performance at the Center in Colfax (104 S. Main St).  The performance will be from 7-8 pm and will follow with a 30-minute facilitated discussion.

Tickets are "Pay What You Can" to make the play accessible to all.  Suggested rates are $10 per person or $20 per family.   .

Moscow - Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre (508 South Main St. Moscow)

6:00 pm - 8:30 pm 

“It’s easier to talk to your children about sex than farmland transition.” – An Iowa farmer

Join us for an opening reception from 6-7pm, hosted by the Palouse-Clearwater Food Coalition, will feature free appetizers from Kitchen Counter and a no host bar with local beer from Moscow Brewing Company and local wine from Clearwater Canyon Cellars. The play will show from 7-8 pm.  A 30-minute discussion with Mary Swander, author of the play, will follow the performance.

20th Anniversary Inland Northwest Small Acreage Farming Conference

Moscow, ID 

Cultivating the Harvest: Inland NW 20th Anniversary Small Acreage Farming Conference (1999 - 2019) is happening March 1st and 2nd. Friday includes hands-on field tours or the option for a 1/2 day workshop on farm succession planning. Saturday will focus on unlocking the power of on-farm research, and morning sessions on small farm marketing, farm profits, insects & pollinators, and soils. Our afternoon will begin with a farmer-to-farmer panel that leads into specialized farmer-to-farmer discussions. An annual event celebrating our local food system! This year's producer panel features Hands & Hearts Farm, Millhorn Farmstead, Ole World Oils - Camelina Gold, and Texas Ridge.

Crash Course in Social Media

We will have special presentations with Eat Smart Iitidaho and the Moscow Food Co-op’s FED Inative.

Join us for a free Crash Course in Social Media – learn, decide, do. As community organizers and non-profit leaders, we are often overwhelmed by the options available through social media to promote our programs and share information. Learn about the different social media platforms available, what it takes to effectively use them and how to decide which are right for your organization. The workshop will be taught by Josh King, a certified mentor with SCORE Spokane. Hosted by the Palouse-Clearwater Food Coalition. Workshop will take place in the 2nd Floor conference room of the Gritman Federal Building in downtown Moscow. Please pre-register.
